Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To Renewal of License to Practice as a Veterinary Technologist (Veterinary Para-Professional), the applicant has to contact/visit the Ghana Veterinary Service offices contact link
2. Applicant must obtain the renewal application form from Veterinary Service Office.
3. Applicant has to enter all the information in the application form.
4. The completed form attached to the supporting documentation as listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page should be submitted to the MOFA office for consideration.
5. On submission of the application file, the Registration &the Licensing office will check for discrepancies or ineligibility in the application documents. If a discrepancy that cannot be immediately corrected exists in any of the documents, the application and all the submitted documents will be returned to the applicant and should not be re-submitted until the discrepancy has been rectified.
6. If the receiving officer is satisfied that all the requirements have been met for the application for the license, the applicant is advised to pay the prescribed license fee as per the authority's preferable mode of payment.
7. Payment of appropriate fees should be made and that can be found under the "Fees" section of this page.
8. The application will only be registered for processing and consideration only upon making payment of the applicable fee, the applicant is then issued with a payment receipt and an acknowledgment slip as a proof of submission of the application for inquiry referencing if the need arises.
9. After a successful evaluation phase, when all regulatory requirements for approval of the license are satisfactorily met, the registrar shall prepare the renewed license that shall specify the validity period, which indicates the approval scope and limitations.
10. A notice of the decision (Approval, Deferral, or Rejection) for the application will be communicated to the applicant by phone or mail.
11. Proceed to the license office and present the acknowledgment letter and identity document and the proof of payment of the license fee to be validated by the licensing office.
12. The applicant will be made to sign on the signature pad/book and will be issued with the printed renewed license.
13. The processing time for this procedure takes 7 days.

Eligibility

• Any person, who holds the license to Practice as a Veterinary Technologist (Veterinary Para-Professional), can apply for renewal.

Fees

• A fee for this application is GHS. 2000
• The current retention fees is set at GHS 1,000/=
• CPD activity fee is 10% of the gross proceeds per activity

Validity

• The license validity is one year.
• The license renewal period is from 1st April to 30th June of any given financial year.

Instructions

• The renewal period for the practice license is from 1st April to 30th June of any given financial year. The validity of the license is subject to the holder being up to date on the renewal fees. The Council may remove the applicant name from its register if he/she fails to pay any fee provided for in the MOFA Act within a period of six months from the date when it was due.
• Applicants that have acquired an additional qualification or have changed their surname in the past twelve months please contact the office to collect and complete the relevant form.
