Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To Renew Aircraft Maintenance Engineers License in Ghana, the applicant has to contact the nearest Civil Aviation Authority Office in Ghana.

3. Application form should obtain from the respective office.
4. Also, make sure that the applicant has all the documents listed in the “Required documents” section of this page.
5. Payment of appropriate fees should be made and that can be found under the "Fees" section of this page.
6. Submit the completed application form and pay the required application fee and submit the receipt as a proof of payment.
7. The receiving officers will check for discrepancies or ineligibility in the application documents. If a discrepancy that cannot be immediately corrected exists in any of the documents, the application and all the submitted documents will be returned to the applicant and should not be re-submitted until the discrepancy has been rectified/ corrected.
8. If the receiving officers is satisfied that all the requirements have been met for the renewal of a license and the prescribed application form has been completed and presented in the Personnel Licensing (PEL) Office, the applicant will be advised to pay the prescribed renewal application fees, after which the license will be issued.
9. A renewal processing 14 days is needed to complete the processing of the Aircraft Maintenance Engineers License application, after which the applicant will be contacted through a phone call to collect him/her new license at the GCAA’s Personnel Licensing offices.
10. Applicant will be required to carry his/her identification documents when collecting his/her renewed license.

• Appropriate application Form for initial issue of an AMEL or for Type ratting.
• Curriculum Vitae.
• Proof of work experience (or the Aircraft Maintenance Engineers Experience Log-Book).
• Certification by an authorized person of the AMO where the applicant works and the required supporting documents attached.
• Two (2) current passport size photographs (full face).
• Proof of identification documents (Identity card or passport)
• Evidence of payment

Eligibility

• Must be in possession of a valid / expired Aircraft Maintenance Engineers License.

Fees

• Test for licence without type rating GHS. 2,000 to 5000 per category
• Test for license with type rating GHS. 2500 to 5000 per category
• Fees for renewal of aircraft maintenance engineer’s license GHS. 3000

• The validity period is two year.

Instructions

The applicant should:

• Take and successfully completed approved course of training.
• Obtain Application form from PEL Offices and complete the prescribed application form.
• Submit all the required documents.
• Pay the applicable fees and submit the payment receipt.
• Get evaluation on your knowledge and skill set.
• Demonstrate phase- (knowledge test).
• Demonstrate phase- (Skill test), oral and practical.
• Wait for the processing period of license to elapse then will be issued with his/her renewed license.

Need for the Document

• In order to be granted authorization to issue certificates of release to service after maintenance on a Ghana registered aircraft, a person must hold a valid license issued by the Authority in accordance with the Civil Aviation (Personnel Licensing) Regulations.

• In respect of air carriers of other States, the Authority may accept as sufficient evidence, the production of licences, certificates and documents issued by competent authorities in the States of origin regarding the competence, technical and financial fitness of the air carriers.
