Apply In-Person:

  1. To Apply for License for Gasoline Service Station in person, the applicant has to approach the NPA office in Ghana Contact link
  2. Applicants approach the NPA office and applicants can get their application form.
  3. Applicant has to enter all the information in the application form.
  4. Applicant must make sure to carry both photocopies and originals of all documents are necessary for completing this procedure.
  5. Applicant must make sure to carry all the necessary documents that are mentioned under “Required Documents” section of this page. (Both photocopies and originals)
  6. Payment of appropriate fees should be made and that can be found under the "Fees" section of this page.
  7. Submit the completed form in two copies along with the supporting documents to the respective office.
  8. This application will be processed and information will be verified by the NPA.
  9. If the verification is successful, the notification will be sent to the applicant.
  10. The applicant after seeing the notification can go to the NPA office and applicant get the license.
  11. Generally, the processing time for this procedure takes 30 to 45 days.

  • A body corporate registered under the Companies Code, 1963 (Act 179) or
  • A partnership registered under the Incorporated Private Partnerships Act, 1962 (Act 152) or
  • A foreign individual or foreign company in a registered joint venture relationship with a citizen of Ghana or a Ghanaian company.

  • The fee for acquiring a license is USD 750, 000.00 and a processing fee of USD 37, 500.00.

  • License validity is for 1 year and this license is renewable annually.

  • The National Petroleum Authority wishes to inform the general public, specifically, those who intend to be, or are already service providers in the petroleum the downstream sector, on provisions under the national petroleum authority act 2005, (act 691) and the requirements for obtaining a license.
  • A person shall not engage in a business or commercial activity in the petroleum downstream industry unless that person has been granted a license for that purpose by the Authority.
