Apply In-Person:

  1. To Obtain License for Celebrating Marriage in Place of Worship in person, the applicant has to approach the Register General Department in Ghana. Contact link
  2. Applicant must obtain the application form from the relevant department.
  3. They should show up with the required documents in the next section and they can be found under the "Required Documents" section of this page.
  4. Payment of appropriate fees should be made and that can be found under the "Fees" section of this page.
  5. Submit the completed form in two copies along with the supporting documents to the respective office.
  6. This application will be processed and the information will be verified by the RGD.
  7. If the verification is successful, the notification will be sent to the applicant.
  8. The applicants after seeing the notification can go to the RGD office and the applicants get their license.
  9. The Processing time for this procedure is 21 days.

  • A passport size photograph for identification
  • Application letter to the Hon. Minister of justice and constitutional affairs through the registrar of marriages.
  • A certificate of registration as a legal entity.
  • A certified copy of the land title or proof of ownership of land through a sale or tenancy agreement.
  • Certified copy of approved building plans.
  • Certified copy of an occupational permit.
  • A list of celebrants and their qualifications.
  • An inspection report from the registrar of marriages or the chief administrative officer
