Apply In-Person:

  1. To obtain Environmental Assessment for Agricultural Projects in Ghana, the applicant has to approach the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Regional and District Offices contact link
  2. An applicant has to approach the EPA office and applicant can get their application form.
  3. Applicant has to enter all information in the application form.
  4. The completed form along with the required documents is to be submitted in 3 copies to any EPA Regional/ Area/District Office or the Head office.
  5. Applicant must make sure to carry all necessary documents that are mentioned under “Required Documents” section of this page.
  6. A fee for this procedure is has to be paid as per the authority’s request.
  7. Upon submission of the Registration Form, EPA would conduct an inspection of the proposed site and issue a report (screening report) which would be presented to a cross-sectorial technical committee (the EIA Technical Review Committee) for a decision on the application within 25 working days from the date of registration.
  8. If the technical committee is satisfied with the findings on the report and there is no objection his/her will be issued with the environmental assessment permit upon payment of the required processing fees.
  9. If all above mentioned procedures were followed properly by the applicant, the application form will be viewed by concerned authorities and the applicant will be notified regarding their permit.
  10. Environmental assessment will take 90 days.


Note: All fees charged are payable at any ECOBANK Ghana Branch by presenting the invoice issued by the Agency to the bank.

  • 12 copies of the environmental impact statement.
  • Copies of the environmental impact statement as the Agency shall direct to sector Ministries, government departments and organizations of relevance to the undertaking.
  • Compliance with mitigation commitments indicated in the environmental impact statement or preliminary environmental report.
  • First annual environmental report.
  • 3 copies of projects
  • Identification document (valid passport/Id card)
  • Other relevant attachments (where applicable)

  • The completed forms along with the required documents for Agricultural Projects assessment are to be submitted in 3 copies to any EPA Regional/ Area/District Office or the Head office.

  • "Environmental permit"means an environmental authorization to commence a proposed undertaking or continue with the undertaking, issued after registration of the undertaking or upon submission of a preliminary environmental report or environmental impact statement.

  • "Environmental assessment" means the process for the orderly and systematic identification, prediction and evaluation of the likely environmental, socio-economic, and cultural and health effects of an undertaking and the mitigation and management of those effects.
  • The Environmental Protection Agency Act 1994, Act 490 and Ghana Environmental Assessment Regulations 1999, LI 1652 requires that undertakings (developments) likely to have significant impacts on the environment must register with the EPA and obtain environmental permits before commencement of construction and operations.
