Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. Applicant has to approach the Register General Department in Ghana and then, the applicant can get their application form for Marriage Booking Cancel contact link
2. Applicant has to enter all information in the application form.
3. Applicant must make sure to carry all necessary documents that are mentioned under “Required Documents” section of this page. (Both photocopies and originals)
4. A fee for this procedure is Free of charge.
5. Fill out the prescribed Declaration Form, attach the supporting document (listed below) and submit them for verification and processing.
6. If the marriage register is satisfied that all the conditions for filling the request are meet, the marriage booking will be cancel immediately.
7. Generally, the processing time for this procedure is taken 1 month.

Apply Online

1. Visit the Registrar general’s department (RGD) website link
2. LOGIN by entering your user ID and password then click on “GO”, If you don’t have an account, you will be required to sign up, click on “Ghana online portal access” to create an account.
3. On the RGD portal home page click on “service” tab. The Service page will be display, click on “cancel Marriage booking” under the marriage section.
4. Cancel Marriage Booking Dashboard page will be displayed, Click on “Cancel booking” button.
5. You will be re-directed to the next page Cancel Marriage Booking Click on “Booking No” to begin your request.
6. Cancel Marriage Details page will be displayed and you will be required to fill i.e. Select Reason for Cancellation, Enter Description on Text box, Enter Email or SMS for Notification mode then click on “Save & Proceed” button.
7. Summary Details page of the application will be displayed for verification, if all the information are accurate then click on “Upload” button to initiate the upload of required documents.
8. “Document Upload” pop-up window will display, Select the Document type by clicking the Tick Box, Enter Document Description then click on “Upload “button.
9. “File Upload” page will be display, Select the document then click on “Open” button.
10. “Document Upload” window with Uploaded Document will display then click on “Done” button to return to the main screen.
11. The next page will display the “application summary” for verification, if all the information are in order, click on “confirm “button
12. Success Message will then be display. Click on “Print” button if you wish to have a copy of the transaction then click on ”Ok ”to finish the transaction.
13. Marriage booking Cancellation is automatic approved upon Submitting your request.

• This is governed by Marriages Act (Cap 127) and is the only, strictly monogamous legal means of marriage in Ghana.

• Individuals (couples) who had register their marriage with the marriage register and have decided to cancel the marriage booking due to certain reason are required to inform the register.

• There is no provision for cancellation of marriage as it was the registered marriage. ... In case if she and her husband agree for divorce, then let them file a case under mutual consent seeking decree of divorce by cancelling the aforesaid marriage.
