Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To cancel diamond License in Ghana, the applicant has to approach the precious minerals marketing company limited (PMMC) in Ghana link
2. Information related to the PMMC office and the license authority can be obtained from the “Office locations and contacts” section of this page.
3. Applicant can be obtained the application form from the respective office.
4. Applicant has to enter all the information in the application form.
5. Applicant must make sure to carry all the necessary documents that are mentioned under “Required Documents” section of this page.
6. Applicant should attach photocopies of documents along with the application form while submitting it at the office.
7. The Fee for this procedure has to be paid as per the authority’s request.
8. This application will be processed and the information will be verified by the PMMC.
9. If all the authority is satisfied, the license will be cancelled.
10. Generally, the processing time for this procedure is 1 month.

Need for the Document

• The applicant’s diamond needs a certificate because, without one, there's no way to know what it applicant’s actually purchasing. A certificate offers proof of aspects like its carat weight, cut quality, colour grade, clarity and more.

Information which might help

• The export of diamond out of the jurisdiction of Ghana can only be done under a license by an entity. This is regulated under the minerals and mining Act, 2006 (Act 703). It provides among others that, the minister in consultation with the commission
• May in writing license persons the minister considers fit, to buy and deal in the types and forms of minerals identified under the Act.
