Apply In-Person

  1. Applicant who would like to Apply for Electricity in Rural Areas, the applicant should contact the customer service centre of electricity company of Ghana or energy company in Ghana contact link
  2. Applicant approach the electricity office and applicant must request for electricity connection in rural areas, also, applicant can get their application form.
  3. Applicant must make sure to carry all necessary documents that are mentioned under “Required Documents” section of this page.( Both photocopies and originals)
  4. Please refer to the fees details in the “Fees” section of this page.
  5. Attach a site map, proof of ownership, the wiring man certificate and as well as a general receipt.
  6. In about 3 5 days the Distribution company surveyor personal comes and inspects the place where power is to be supplied so as to determine whether everything was done in the way recommended.
  7. After a period between 1 week to 2 weeks upon the surveys inspection, the applicant will have to go to the Distribution company branch where he or she submitted his application so as to continue the process of making payment which may / may not include charge for a new pole.
  8. Upon payment, it will take a period of between 1 week to 2 weeks for one to have power installed to his or her place.

  • Certified copy of proof of ownership of the property, such as sale deed.
  • If the applicant is not the property’s owner, consent letter from the owner in form format or valid proof of occupancy.
  • National identification card.
  • Residential address proof
  • One Passport photo
  • Tenancy Agreement (and a passport photo for the landlord)
  • Certificate of completion of installation
  • A sketch map to your premises.
  • A development or Building Permit issued by the relevant Metropolitan, Municipal or District Assembly (SHEP Areas are Exempt) from this requirement.

  • Electricity in Uganda is distributed by a distribution company contracted by the Government of Ghana.
