Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To Apply for Animal Registration permit (local animal movement permit) in person, the applicant has to contact/visit the Ghana Veterinary Service offices to make the application. contact link
2. Applicant must obtain the application form from the relevant department.
3. Every application for a Veterinary health Certificate under this rule shall be in writing and shall contain such particulars as the commissioner may require.
4. The applicant should create a schedule to make sure all requirements are met within the specified time frames.
5. Please make sure applicant have all the documents that are listed down the “Required Document” section of this page.
6. Please make sure applicant have the pay the fees that are listed down the “fees” section of this page.
7. Submit the completed form in two copies along with the supporting documents to the respective office.
8. This application will be processed and information will be verified by the MOFA office.
9. If all the above mentioned procedures were followed properly by the applicant, the application form will be viewed by concerned authorities and the applicant will be notified regarding their license.
10. The applicant after seeing the notification can go to the NPA office and applicant get the certificate.
11. The Processing time for this procedure is 2 to 3 days.

• Applicant should prove that he or she has resources and experience to engage satisfactorily in the business of a cattle trade.
• Filled application form

Need for the Document

• The animal registration certificate grants permission to transport live animals and animal products across sub-counties and districts. The permit is issued by the district veterinary officers to confirm that the animals are not stolen and that they are in good health.

Movement of animals

• No person shall move from one Sub County to another any animal, carcass, hide or skin unless he or she is in possession of a permit issued in accordance with these Rules.
• Nothing in this rule shall apply to the daily movement of cattle for the purpose of grazing or watering in the proximity of the kraal in which the cattle are normally confined.

Cancellation of permit

• A permit may at any time be cancelled by any inspecting officer.
• In case of any outbreak of disease, inspecting officers shall cancel or alter all permits as may be necessary.
• A permit shall accompany all animals or carcasses while being moved and shall be produced on the demand of any inspecting or police officer or of any person in occupation of the land through which they are being moved.
