ProcedureEdit

Apply In-Person:

  1. To Apply for Permit to keep Domestic Animals and Livestock in Ghana, the applicant has to contact/visit the Veterinary Service offices. Contact link
  2. Applicant must obtain the application form from Veterinary Service Office.
  3. The applicant has to make sure he or she has all the required documents that are required for this process to be successful and they can be found under the "Required Documents" section of this page.
  4. Payment of appropriate fees should be made and that can be found under the "Fees" section of this page.
  5. After you have paid and submitted a successful application, the applicant will be issued with a pay slip which can be used as proof of payment. Attach the same on the application form.
  6. Submit the completed form in two copies along with the supporting documents to the MOFA office.
  7. One is required to physically present themselves while collecting the permit to keep domestic animals and livestock. Proof of identity is required when picking up the permit.
  8. A permit granted under the provisions of this Ordinance shall specify the premises, the number and kinds of domestic animals and the duration of the period in respect of which the permit is valid.
  9. The processing time for this procedure takes 90 days.

  • All person with domestic animals and wishes to comply with the appropriate mandatory Code of Practice in Ghana are eligible for this permit.

License Fee: 200,000.GHS

  • A license issued is valid for one year and expire on 31 December every year.

Man-made breeding has created livestock that are adapted for different purposes and functions.
