Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. Applicant who would like Apply for Vehicle Certificate of Fitness (CoF) in Ghana, the applicant should contact the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) in Ghana. contact Link
2. Applicant has to approach the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority Head Office in Ghana and applicant can get their application form.
3. Applicant must fill the all information in the application form.
4. Please make sure applicant have all the documents that are listed down the “Required Document” section of this page.
5. Payment of appropriate fees should be made and that can be found under the "Fees" section of this page.
6. Attach all the required documents with the application form and submit them to the Secretary of the Board.
7. Then, the officials will proceed to perform the internal processes with respect to the applicant’s request.
8. Initially, the applicant’s attached documents and application form will be checked for sufficiency and appropriateness.
9. Then, the Board will verify whether the Dealership site adheres to the relevant requirements and regulations.
10. If found sufficient, further necessary tasks will be accomplished by the concerned officials for the issuance of certificate.
11. Once all the tasks and processes are over, applicant will be intimated to collect the certificate through any applicable means.
12. The processing time for this procedure is 2 days.

• Inspection report.
• Motor third party insurance.
• Motor Vehicle Registration book.
• Owner Valid National identity card or passport.
• A copy of the operation licence in the case of a public service vehicle, a private omnibus or a goods vehicle.
• A copy of the certificate of incorporation or registration in the case of a motor vehicle belonging to a company or other registered entity.
• A letter of authorisation from the accounting officer, in case of a motor vehicle owned by the Government.
• Bank slips (inspection fees).

Fees

• Certificate fee is 30,000 GHS.

Validity

• Certificate of Fitness is valid for twelve months from the date of issue.
