Procedure

Apply In person

1. To Apply for Student Passport in person, the applicant has to approach the Ghana Visa Application Centre (VAC) or Ghana immigration service office Contact link
2. Then, the applicant must obtain the application form from Ghana Visa Application Centre (VAC) or Ghana immigration service office.
3. Fill up the application form. Do not forget to affix your right thumb print and sign the form. Please avoid making erasures on the form, erasures may result to your application being rejected. Exercise extreme caution in completing the forms as mistakes cannot be corrected once the passport has been issued.
4. Submit the completed application form along with all other required documents in person to the nearest Immigration office in your locality and they can be found under the "Required Documents" section of this page.
5. Ask the Immigration officer-in-charge to examine all submitted documents and check to see if the application form was duly completed. Inspection of documents must be done in his/her presence.
6. Payment of appropriate fees should be made and that can be found under the "Fees" section of this page.
7. The date of collection of passport shall be written on his/her payment receipt.
8. Between the immigration office and the passport office his/her application will be processed for issue.
9. The Passport Office shall inform his/her in writing in case there are any queries regarding him/her application.
10. His/her passport shall be ready for pick up within 30 days upon submission of the application form and all other required documents.
11. Collect your Passport in person from the District or Regional Immigration Office in his/her region.
12. Affix his/her signature on the passport in the presence of the immigration officer when applicants collect his/her passport.
13. Generally, the processing time for this procedure is 3-15 days.

• Ordinary passport cost 250,000 GHS
• Express service at 150,000 GHS
• Official/service passport cost 400,000 GHS

Validity

• Passport is Valid for 10 years.

• Student passport is the one which allows its holder to study at an institution of higher learning in the issuing country in this case Ghana.

Information which might help

• If you have used-up all the pages of your passport and damaged your passport, you may request for a new passport to be issued. Attach the old passport when you apply for a new one. In case of a damaged passport with valid visa, apply for a new passport and then to the Embassy concerned for a replacement passport.

Other uses of the Document/Certificate

• Applicant will require a student passport when the applicants are applying for student visa.
