Apply In-Person

  1. To Apply for Replacement Passport in Ghana, the applicant has to approach the Ghana immigration service (GIS) office link
  2. Then, the applicant can get their application form from Ghana Immigration Office (GIS).
  3. Applicant has to enter all information in the application form.
  4. Applicant must make sure to carry all necessary documents that are mentioned under “Required Documents” section of this page. (Both photocopies and originals)
  5. Pay the processing fee of 100,000.00 or GH10.00 for fresh passports and 500,000 or GH50 .00 for replacement of lost passports. Do not forget to ask for a receipt.
  6. The date of collection of passport shall be written on applicant payment receipt.
  7. Between the immigration office and the passport office his/her application will be processed for issue.
  8. The Passport Office shall inform his/her in writing in case there are any queries regarding your application.
  9. Applicant passport shall be ready for pick up within 2 to 3 weeks upon submission of the application form and all other required documents.
  10. Collect your Passport in person from the District or Regional Immigration Office in your region.


Note: Passport and visa application fees are non-refundable whether his/her application is successful or not.

  • In the event that your passport is lost or stolen, first report the theft to the local police in order to get a police report.  Along with the police report, you will need proof of citizenship and a government issued photo ID.

  • Cost of passport application form- $[US]30.00

  • Applications for missing passports must be supported with a sworn affidavit with the HIGH COURT SEAL from Ghana indicating Passport number if possible, how the passport got missing, place and date of issue as well as the bio data of the applicant.

  • Applicant's complete name
  • Applicant's maiden name, if applicable
  • Profession or occupation
  • Examples: Teacher, doctor, public/civil servant etc.
  • Please do not put your title like, AL haji, Reverend Etc.
  • Social Security Number, if you have one
  • Last educational institution attended

  • A passport is a document, issued by the national government. It certifies the identity and nationality of the holder for travel abroad.



Information which might helpEdit

  • Immediately notify the home office it is your BRP which has been lost, stolen or damaged. You will do this on the online form on the UK government Website. Contact your embassy in London to obtain a replacement.



Other uses of the Document/CertificateEdit

  • Passport can be used as proof of identity.
