Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. Application form for Global Environment Facility Small Grant Program (GEFSGP) is available in Ghana Social Welfare Department contact link
2. Submit a written application and a concept paper if you are an NGO and CBO in the field of Environment which briefly describes the idea of the project. (Not more than two pages)
3. Attach all the required documents, references and evidence of your work in the community.
4. After the assessment of the applicant’s concept paper and it is approved, applicant will be requested to submit more documents.
5. Applicant must make sure to carry all necessary documents that are mentioned under “Required Documents” section of this page. (Both photocopies and originals)
6. Fee for this procedure has to be paid as per authority’s request.
7. Submit a more detailed project proposal with full information about you action plan of project in the community.
8. Once the National steering committee approves your proposal the National Coordinator will prepare a Memorandum of understanding which will be signed between the Applicant and the UNDP. The project becomes effective from this stage on.
9. Generally, the processing time for this procedure 2-3 months.

• Budget and information on how costs will be met (including amount of funding from the GEF/SGP)

Need for the Document

• GEF/SGP aims to provide support to community level initiatives for conservation and restoration of the environment in Ghana.
• The purpose of the fund is to provide technical and financial support to community led initiative that conserve and restore the environment while enhancing the well being and livelihood of the Local People. The GEF-SGP grant is through the United Nations Development Programme to assist developing countries in fulfilling their commitment of protection of the global environment through local actions.
