Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To Apply for Export and Import of Agriculture commodities in person, the applicant has to approach the Ministry of Food and Agriculture Offices in Ghana. Address and contact details can be found in the following Contact link
2. Application form should obtain the respective office.
3. Applicant has to enter all the information in the application form.
4. The application shall be written on company headed paper, with a working telephone number, an email, full post box and physical location, attached the documents as indicated in the requirements section below. Also, make sure that the applicant has all the documents listed in the “Required documents” section of this page.
5. Payment of appropriate fees should be made and that can be found under the "Fees" section of this page.
6. Submit the completed application form and pay the required application fee and submit the receipt as a proof of payment.
7. Where the Authority is satisfied that the applicant for a certificate of Export and Import of Agriculture commodities has satisfied all the requirements necessary for the grant of the registration certificate and upon payment of the prescribed fee, the Authority may grant him the certificate.
8. If there is no information regarding the application, then, the applicant can visit the office to know status of the application.
9. This process takes a maximum of 30 days.

• Tax certificate
• Copies of identification documents (National Identification/ Passport) of the Director(s)
• Signed contract with the grower(s) (if any)
• Signed contract when sourcing from authorized exporter
• Signed agreement if the applicant is packing from an authorized pack house other than his/hers
• Copy of the applicant’s label for his/ her consignments (Company name, Full address and Signage- Produce of Uganda, Code marks)
• Demonstration of understanding and documentary evidence of the market requirement by the audited.

  • Calibration of spray equipment and sprayers
  • Traceability
  • Farmer recruitment
  • Pest management
  • Safety and hygiene of produce handlers.

Eligibility

• Any person aged 18 years and above and legally residing in the country can import or Export Agriculture products into the country.
• Any person who obtains permission for importing/exporting Agriculture products in Ghana is eligible.
• Any person who has the import interest and meets the above requirements and is importing/exporting Agriculture products that does not fall in the restricted list.

Fees

• Application fees is GHS 1,000 (Non-refundable)

Validity

• This is valid for a period of one year.
