- Go to your local county probate court to inquire.
- Fill out an application form for a marriage license.
- Present valid identification documents and other necessary documents.
- Pay the marriage license fee.

- 2 valid forms of ID(drivers license, birth certificate, U. S. passport, Armed Forces ID card, or Resident Alien ID card)
Note: If you're document is printed in a language other than English, you'll need to hire a notary to type a certified translation.

EligibilityEdit
To apply for a marriage license:
The parties must be of sound mind, must have no living spouse from an un-dissolved prior marriage, and must not be related in a degree prohibited by law.
If the parties are at least 18 years of age, they may apply without parental consent.
If either or both parties are less than 18 years of age, but at least 16 years of age, the parties may apply only with parental consent of the underage party or parties. Both parents must give written consent unless his/her rights have been terminated by an Order of a court.
Persons related by blood or marriage, falling within the following relationships may not be married in Georgia:
- father and daughter or stepdaughter
- mother and son or stepson
- brother and sister of the whole blood or half blood
- grandparent and grandchild
- aunt and nephew
- uncle and niece
Note: Blood tests are no longer required for marriage license.

A Marriage license in Georgia costs approximately $65 or more to get married in Georgia. It varies in a county and some counties require cash payment only. Fees at your county probate court can be check here: https://www.gaprobate.org/find_court.asp.
Note:
- If you don't want to pay a marriage license fee, you can earn a premarital education program certificate - a six-hour class that reviews basic marriage lessons such as budgeting and conflict resolution.

If either the bride or the groom is a Georgia resident, the license may be purchased in any county in Georgia.
If neither the bride nor the groom is a resident of Georgia, the marriage license must be obtained in the county in which the marriage ceremony will be performed.
Both the bride and the groom must be present to obtain the license. Each person must also provide proper identification.
Required InformationEdit
Both bride and groom must know their parents' full names and birthplaces. Full name for mother is her maiden (birth) last name. "Birthplace" means the city or county and state where each parent was born.
Georgia law requires each applicant to designate the legal surname he or she will use after marriage. The applicant may choose his or her present surname, his or her spouse's surname, or a combination of the two.
