Complete a Divorce Confirmation Request Form and mail it to:

Do NOT send cash in the mail. Make certified checks and money orders payable to Vital Records.

Provide a self-addressed stamped envelope. Print or type your name and address on the envelope using all caps.

Divorce Record

You can only obtain certified copies of divorce decrees from the county where the divorce was granted.

Eligibility

Person named on the certificate, or a parent, guardian, child or spouse of the named person are eligible to request the certified copy of divorce certificate.

Fees

Georgia Department of Public Health
Georgia law requires that payment must be received before a record or a service can be provided. Prepayment of the fee is necessary at the time the service is requested and fees are not refundable.

• Fee includes the search & confirmation of divorce event: $10.00

The state Vital Records office will conduct a search to determine the occurrence of a divorce, but the office cannot issue a record. Certified copies of divorce decrees are only available from the Clerk of the Superior Court in the county where the divorce was granted.

• Multi-year search (every three years or portion thereof): $10.00

Instructions

• Certified copies are not issued at State office. Inquiries will be forwarded to appropriate Clerk of Superior Court in county where divorce was granted.
• Centralized State records available since June 9, 1952.
• The state Vital Records office will conduct a search to determine the occurrence of a divorce, but cannot issue a record.
• Certified copies of divorce decrees are only available from the Clerk of the Superior Court in the county where the divorce was granted.
