ProcedureEdit

  1. Apply to obtain a Non Commercial Instructional Permit at any CSC location.
  2. Applicants must submit documents that shows their identity, residential address, full social security number, U.S. citizenship or proof of lawful presence in the United States and other required documents.
  3. Pay the fees.
  4. Pass the Non-Commercial Knowledge Exam.


Knowledge Exam

The Knowledge Exam consists of two tests the Road Rules Test and the Road Signs Test. The applicant must pass each test. To pass the exam applicants must get a minimum of 15 out of 20 correct answers, on each test.

When you take the knowledge exam, you must be at the Customer Service Center 30 minutes before it closes, to allow adequate time for testing and issuance.

To apply, you must be at least 18 years of age.



FeesEdit

Non Commercial Driving License Instructional Permit: $10.00


The $10.00 permit fee must be paid before the test begins.

In case of failing any part of the test, no refund will be issued and the permit fee must be paid again prior to every testing attempt.

Conditions/Restrictions

Agricultural Vehicles:

  • Must be controlled/operated by the farmer, relatives or employees of the farmer.
  • Must be used to transport agricultural products, farm machinery or farm supplies to or from a farm.
  • Must be operated within 150 miles of the farm.
  • Must not be operating as a common carrier (for profit or trade/barter).

Firefighter/ Emergency Vehicles

  • Must be equipped with lights and a siren.
  • Must be a vehicle necessary for the preservation of lives or property or the execution of emergency governmental.
  • Must function as a fire truck, hook and ladder truck, foam or water transport truck, police special operations vehicle or ambulance.
  • Must be exempt from normal traffic regulations when operating as an authorized emergency vehicle.
  • Must operate the appropriate class of vehicle when accompanied by a person who is licensed to drive that class of vehicle, who is fit and capable of exercising control of the vehicle, and who is occupying a seat beside the driver.

Military Vehicles

  • Must be operated by military personnel or civilians who are required to wear military uniforms.
  • Must operate the appropriate class of vehicle and be accompanied by a person who is licensed to drive that class of vehicle, who is fit and capable of exercising control of the vehicle, and who is occupying a seat beside the driver.

Recreational Vehicles

  • Operators of recreational vehicles
