Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To Obtain Licence to Kill Game (Birds, Animals), the applicant must go to the Ministry of Agriculture office in Fiji. Contact Link
2. The applicant must obtain the approved application form from the authorities in the Ministry of Agriculture office.
3. Make sure that you have all the documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
4. The application form should be filled with necessary details, and along with the required documents, it should be submitted to the Licensing officer in the Ministry of Agriculture office.
5. The prescribed application fee must be paid and the receipt must be attached with the application form.
6. Then, the licensing officer will issue the License to kill “Game” during the hunting season in Fiji.
7. The fee details and the processing time will be intimated to the applicant while applying.

Eligibility

Any participants who wish to go hunting or shooting in Fiji during the Shooting season can apply for license application.

Fees

The prescribed fee details will be intimated to the applicant while applying.

Validity

The license to kill game (Both animals and birds) is valid only during the hunting or shooting season in Fiji.

The hunters and shooters are not allowed to kill or hunt the reserved species, such as:

• Malay Turtle Dove
• Red‐vented Bulbul
• House (or Brown) Mynah
• Field (or Grey) Mynah
• Java Rice sparrow
• Strawberry Finch
• European Starling
• Fijian Wood Pigeon (Peal's Pigeon or Barking Pigeon)
• Fruit (or Chili) Pigeon.

Need for the Document

• Without the license, nobody is allowed to kill the game during the hunting/shooting season.
• Hunters must carry their licence with them when hunting, and must produce the licence to a game ranger on demand.
  

Information which might help

• Game must not be hunted during the closed season, from 14 June to 14 May.
• It is an offence to hunt game species, or to take or destroy their nests or eggs, within a game reserve.
• There are currently six declared game reserves in Fiji, including Mount Korobaba and the islands of Makogai and Makodraga.
• The maximum penalty for offences is $50 and/or three months imprisonment.
