Apply In-Person:

  1. To Obtain Import Permit for Sheep and Goats, the applicant must go to the Biosecurity of Authority office in Fiji.Contact Link
  2. The importer/shipper (applicant) can obtain the application form from the authorities in the Biosecurity office.
  3. Make sure that you have all the documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  4. The application form should be filled with necessary details, and along with the required documents, it should be submitted to the Biosecurity officer.
  5. If the animals are kept in Transit before reaching the destination country, then the application form for Live Animals in Transit must also be attached. Application Form
  6. The prescribed fee payment must be made and the receipt must be attached along with the application form.
  7. After submitting the application, the Biosecurity officer will inspect the animals, and then will verify the details given in the application form.
  8. After complete verification, the import permit for Sheep and Goats will be issued to the applicant.

  10. The processing time will be intimated to the applicant while applying.


NOTE: It should be noted that Sheep and Goats should be imported to Fiji only from New Zealand and Australia excluding the Northern territory and areas of Queensland and Western Australia North of 22-degree South latitude.

Required DocumentsEdit

  • Dully filled Application Form.
  • A statutory declaration form with ear tag number.
  • Certificate from Government Veterinary Officer of the country of origin. The certification must be made on:
  • That he/she examined each of such animals within 7 days immediately preceding the date of shipment and found them to be free from clinical disease and ectoparasites.
  • Each animal has been vaccinated twice against blackleg, malignant oedema, tetanus, and enterotoxaemia in accordance with the vaccine manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Each animal is free from evidence of foot-rot infection.
  • Each animal has been shorn and dipped or sprayed using an approved dipping fluid within 3 days of shipment with the name of such dipping fluid being stated.
  • Each animal originates from must be vaccinated for Brucella Ovis, and Complement Fixation test for Brucella Ovis.
  • Each animal should be tested for serum agglutination test or Complement Fixation Test for Brucella Ovis.
  • In case of Goats, each animal,
  • Should originate from Caprine Arthritis and Encephalitis free areas.
  • Should be tested for Serological Disease with negative result.
  • In case of Goats arriving from New Zealand,
  • Should originate from Caprine herpesvirus free areas.
  • Should be tested for Serological Disease with negative result.
  • The shipper should also attach the declaration sheet with kind, number, sex, and marks of brand or ear marks of all animals.
  • If the animals are kept in Transit before reaching the destination country, then Application form for Live Animals in Transit is required. Application Form
  • Fee Receipt.
  • Other documents requested by the biosecurity officer while inspecting. (If applicable)

EligibilityEdit

The shipper/owner of the live animals must apply for the import permit before entering into Fiji.

  • Inspection of live animals on transit during working hours - per animal - $44.85
  • Inspection of live animals on transit after working hours - per animal - $71.76
  • Permit of importation of live animals (within 6 months of issue) single - per permit - $302.63
  • Permit for the multiple importation of animal/animal products (within 6 months of issue) - $482.12

Need for the DocumentEdit
