Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To submit a proposal for Naming a Road, the applicant must visit the Fiji Roads Authority. Contact Link
2. The application form titled “Request for the formal approval of a road name” must be obtained from the authorities in the Fiji Roads Authority office.
3. Make sure that you have all the documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
4. The name proposed will be consulted with few of the people such as Relatives of named people, Ministry of iTaukei Affairs, etc.
5. The application will be verified according to the Road Naming Policy and Guidelines.
6. If the name proposal matches the criteria of Naming policy, the application will be approved. If not, it will be rejected.
7. The final approval of the Name will be decided by the CEO of Fiji Road’s Authority.
8. The fee for the application will be intimated to the applicant while applying.
9. The processing time will be intimated by the authorities in the Fiji Roads Authority Office to the applicant while applying.

Required Documents

• Proposed new road name, including preferred suffix.
• For a new road created by subdivision provide
  • Preferred name plus at least one alternative listed in order of preference.
  • The legal description of the road and a copy of the subdivision plan legalising, or proposing to legalise, the road.
• A location map highlighting the road.
• A brief explanation demonstrating the background to the names, and how they comply with the requirements of the Road Naming Policy.

Any individual who resides in Fiji is eligible to submit the proposal for Naming a Road in Fiji.

In order to give a new name or change the name of the existing road, the applicant must submit a proposal application to the CEO of the Fiji Roads Authority.
