Ethiopia - Waste Treatment License

Apply In-Person:
- To obtain Waste treatment license, the applicant has to approach Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate change location link
- Applicant has to get the application form from the respective office.
- Applicant must provide all necessary information in the application form.
- Make sure you have all the documents mentioned in “Required Documents” section of this page.
- Applicant should attach photocopies of documents (whichever is necessary) along with the application form while submitting the application form.
- Fee for this procedure has to be paid as per the authority request and submit the receipt as a proof of payment.
- Once the verification of document is done the authority will issue the license in 45 days.
- The applicant is intimated to collect the license once it is ready by receiving SMS or E- mail or you can directly contact the office by the contact details given in the “Office Locations & Contacts” section of this page.

- Survey of Ethiopia grid reference A4 site plan
- Approval of town/country planning authority
- Executive summary of the environmental impact assessment (EIA)
- Application form to have company stamp
- Proposed methods of nuisance control
- Evidence of proposed controls of handling emissions
- Detailed measures to control fire
- Accident and emergency procedure and include training, first aid and signage
- List of equipment to be used on site showing their maintenance programme
- Environmental maintenance plan

InstructionsEdit
- Any person intending to operate a wastes treatment site or plant or to generate hazardous waste, shall prior to transporting the wastes, commencing with the operation of a wastes disposal site or plant or generating hazardous wastes, as the case may be, apply to the Authority in writing for the grant of an appropriate licence.
- A licence to operate a waste treatment site or plant may only be granted subject to the payment of the appropriate fee and any other licence that may be required by the relevant Local Authority.

Need for the DocumentEdit
Any operator of a waste treatment site or plant should apply the relevant provisions on waste treatment under the Local Government Act and Regulations to ensure that such waste does not present any imminent and substantial danger to public health, the environment and natural resources and issued with Waste Disposal License
