Apply In-Person:

  1. Reporting a crime in Ethiopia can be done in nearest police stations in Ethiopia. All police station crime files are dealt under Ethiopian Federal Police office contact link
  2. The person who is reporting the crime must provide details about the crime nature, on which occasion the crime is done.
  3. A person who is reporting must inform if there is any loss of life or property involved in the crime.
  4. If there is anyone who is an eyewitness for the crime, they should also be present at the time of reporting the crime.
  5. Person who is reporting about the crime must provide a written statement at the nearby police station.
  6. If the case is urgent then, the person who is reporting must see the higher officer in the police station and inform him about the details of the crime.
  7. The officials will take action on the crime report and will arrest criminals who are involved in the crime and will be summoned or a warrant of arrest will be issued to them.
  8. There is no fee for this procedure.


By Call

  1. If a person has to report a crime or experiencing a crime and are not able to go to the police station can report the crime by calling emergency landline number 199.
  2. The person must provide occasion, nature and details of any loss of property or lives in the crime.
  3. The person who is reporting the crime must also inform the urgency of the crime and should request for immediate action.
  4. After the location is provided by the eyewitness or victim, concerned officers will be destined to reach the location as soon as possible.
  5. This procedure is free of charge and emergency landline is free of charge.
  6. Once the officers arrive at the location, they will search the whole area thoroughly and criminals will be arrested.
