Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. Application form for obtaining a permit for expanding an existing industry is available in the Ethiopian Ministry of Trade and Industry contact link
2. Applicant should fill-in all the necessary details in application form provided by the ministry.
3. Applicant should make sure to carry all the documents that are mentioned under the “Required Documents” section of this page (Both photocopies and originals).
4. Fee must be paid as per the authority’s request.
5. Applicant must attach photocopies of documents (whichever is necessary) along with the application form while submitting.
6. Originals might be collected by the authorities for verification purposes.
7. The collected originals will be returned back to the applicant right after verification.
8. Applicant can get their permit within 21 days. It can be sent via post or the applicant can get it by visiting the Ministry directly.
9. If the certificate wasn’t issued within 21 days, then, the applicant can visit the Ministry to know the details of their application.<br

Eligibility

The industry must have a business license and must be an already existing industry in Ethiopia.

Instructions

The permission issued by the Ministry is only valid until the completion of the expanding or upgrading process and it shall not be used for manufacturing or production services.

Need for the Document

Any person desiring to produce goods or dispense service by expanding or upgrading an existing industry, or agricultural development or a service business, may apply to the appropriate authority to obtain a permit by attaching the documents specified under Article 32 of the Ethiopian Proclamation.
