Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To obtain a Tourism License, the applicant has to approach Ministry of Culture and Tourism in Ethiopia contact link
2. Applicant has to get the application form to register from the respective office.
3. The applicant must fill-in all the necessary details in the application form.
4. Applicant must carry related documents that are necessary for the process to complete.
5. Documents that are necessary for the process to complete are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
6. Applicant should attach the photocopies along with the application form and submit the application form to the authority.
7. Fee for this procedure has to be paid as per the authority request.
8. If all above-mentioned procedures were followed properly by the applicant, the ministry will issue the license within one month.

• Completed form
• Certificate of registration / Incorporation of company
• Memorandum and Articles of Association of company
• Copy of menu and tariff where applicable
• Copy of the current health clearance certificate (less than three months old)
• Medical Certificate of food handlers
• CV and professional certificates of the Manager
• Manager’s letter of appointment
• Entry permit for all non- Ethiopians working in the facility and affidavit for non-resident director(s)
• Lease agreement/ copy of title deed of premises occupied by the hotel
• EIA for new facilities / environmental audit for existing facilities
• Compliance to tourism or area development plans
• Evidence of insurance cover for the premises

Eligibility

No person is allowed to undertake or engage in a tourism activity or service without a valid license issued by the Tourism Regulatory Authority.

• Name of Company/Person to be licensed (The Company’s or persons name should be stated in full)
• Physical address
• Postal address
• Income Tax Personal Identification Number (PIN)
• Short description of the applicant’s licensable activity or service
• Registration certificate No.
• Name and address of the bank or financial institution where business account is maintained
• Full name(s) of proprietor(s) or managing director if a Limited Company
• Postal and residential address(es) of proprietor(s) or managing director
• Age, country of birth, present nationality of person’s proprietor(s) or managing director
• State whether any of the partners/directors/shareholders is an undischarged bankrupt. (If so, indicate the names)
• State whether any of the partners/directors/shareholders have a beneficial interest in any other business licensed to provide or operate tourism activities and services
• Whether any previous application by you been rejected under the Act
• Whether any previous license granted to you under the Act been revoked, cancelled or suspended
• Total sales for the past calendar year
• Total number of beds
• Tariff (s)
