Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. Application form for obtaining original Identification card is available in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ethiopia contact link
2. Applicant must fill-in all the necessary details in the application form.
3. Applicant must make sure to carry documents that are listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page (Both photocopies and originals).
4. Applicant must attach the photocopies of the documents (whichever is necessary) along with the application form.
5. Submit the form to the respective authority.
6. The fee for this procedure should be given as per the authority request. Once the payment is made, the applicant has to attach the payment receipt as the proof of payment.
7. After the verification of the documents is done the council will issue the license within 3 months.
8. The applicant is intimated to collect the license once it is ready by receiving SMS or E- mail.

• Completed application form
• Memorandum and articles of association of the applicant whose main objective shall be to operate a central depository, the certificate of incorporation and applicants proposed rules
• The prescribed fee
• A schedule of proposed fees and penalties.

Eligibility

No person shall establish, maintain or hold himself out as maintaining a central depository except with the prior written approval of the authority.

Need for the Document

A central depository is a company licensed by the Capital Markets Authority to-

• Establish and operate a system for central handling of securities
  • where securities are deposited and held in custody by, or registered in the name of the company or its nominee company for depositors and dealings in respect of these securities are affected by means of entries in securities accounts without the physical delivery of certificates; or
  • which permits or facilitates the settlement or registration of securities transactions or dealings in securities without the physical delivery of certificates; and
• Provide other related facilities and services.
