Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To renew building works license or permit, the applicant must approach the Ministry of Housing & Urban Communities Contact link
2. An application for the renewal of the License may be made to the MOH not later than thirty (30) days before the expiration of the License.
3. Applicant must obtain the application form from the relevant department.
4. Applicant should read carefully in the application form, after all details must be filled in the application form.
5. The applicant has to make sure he or she has all the required documents that are required for this process to be successful and they can be found under the "Required Documents" section of this page.
6. Payment of appropriate fees should be made and that can be found under the "Fees" section of this page.
7. Submit the completed form along with the supporting documents (listed below) to the attending staff for verification and processing.
8. This application will be processed and information will be verified by the authority.
9. If the verification is successful, the notification will be sent to the applicant.
10. The applicant after seeing the notification can go to the authority and applicant get the renewal certificate.
11. The processing time for this procedure takes 2 months.

• The administrative fee is EGP 1,500.00 and it is non-refundable.

• The validity for this license is 6 months.

Instructions

• The application for extension or renewal of a development permit or a building permit shall be submitted in white paper either typed or written in ink, specifying the name and address of the applicant, the number and date of issue of the permit, the stage of development or construction, if already commenced.

Need for the Document

• Permit to Work is a systematic process used to authorize controlled work in nonstandard, potentially hazardous conditions.
•  Builders and tradespeople need to be licensed to do building work where the total cost of labour and materials is more than $5,000. Individuals may have their contractor license endorsed with a Q and this indicates that the license is also equivalent to a Qualified supervisor certificate.
