Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To How to Claim Unclaimed Financial Assets (Original Owner Claim) in person, the applicant has to approach the Egyptian Real Estate Taxation Authority in Egypt.

3. Applicant must obtain the application form from the relevant department.
4. Once the applicant obtain the application form, fill it and submit to the Authority, the receiving officer shall check for completeness of the form to ensure it meets the licensing requirements and register his/her application as received.
5. The applicant has to make sure he or she has all the required documents that are required for this process to be successful and they can be found under the "Required Documents" section of this page.
6. A Fee for this procedure is free of charge.
7. An applicant is also to submit the application document together with all the required documents to the Unclaimed Financial Assets Authority’s Offices.
8. The evaluation team will go through the application document and after period of ninety days, the unclaimed assets will be releases the original owner.
9. A gazettement period of 30 days is required for the owner claims. If no objection is received in within this period, the funds will be paid to the claimant after the gazettement period.
10. Communications on how to collect the unclaimed assets will be done through email and telephone call.
11. If there is no information regarding the application, then, the applicant can visit the office to know status of the application.
12. The processing time for this procedure is 30 days.

Required Documents

• ID Proof like National ID Card or a Passport
• Completed Agent for owner claim form duly commissioned.
• Completed Indemnity agreement duly commissioned.
• An official letter received from the holder confirming remittance of unclaimed assets to the Authority.
• Certified copy of the claimant’s national identity card or passport.
• Copy of claimant’s ERA PIN certificate.
• Claimant's bank details indicated on claimant bank details form.
• Provide Bank Statement of an active account, current deposit slip, or withdrawal slip - clearly showing account name and number to confirm bank account details provided in item 6 above. (If more than one claimant provides statement of a joint bank account).
• Documents from foreign jurisdictions should be notarised by a Public Notary.

• Visit the Unclaimed Financial Assets Authority’s offices or ministry of finance to get the application form or download the application form and fill in the required information.
• Prepare all the required documents and attach to the application form.
• Submit the application form to the Unclaimed Financial Assets Authority’s Offices.
• Wait for verification of application and document; and running of notice of application for a 30 days gazzetement period in the Egypt gazette.
• Upon approval you will receive communications on how to collect his/her asset.

Need for the Document

• This application allows a person who has a claim in assets that have been presumed abandoned and have become unclaimed assets under the provisions of sections 4 to 18 of Act to reclaim the assets.
