Procedure

Apply In person

1. To Apply for Get a Dog Licensein Egypt, the applicant has to approach MSD Animal Health Office or Veterinary Medicine Directorate.

3. Then, the applicant must obtain the application form from the respective office.
4. Applicant should read carefully in the application form, after all details must be filled in the application form.
5. Documents that are needed for this procedure are mentioned under “Required Documents” section of this page.
6. Submit the completed forms along with the supporting documents at the respective office.
7. This form will be forwarded by the Director of Veterinary services to the City Ward Veterinary in charge of the applicant’s residential area who is licensed to carry out inspection for dog licensing within the City.
8. Once Form has reached the Ward Vet, they will contact the applicant to make an appointment for inspection.
9. During the inspection they check your rabies vaccination books, fencing, dog shelter, water and how you dispose of faeces. With a view to animal welfare and neighbourly behaviour.
10. Once this is done the Review Officer will fill out a copy of the form. One copy will be left to the applicant and the other will go to the veterinary ward office with the inspection officer, where it will be signed and sent to the respective authority for processing.
11. Once the form has been processed, the authority will contact to give the payment details.
12. Payment of appropriate fees should be made and that can be found under the "Fees" section of this page.
13. If the verification is successful, the notification will be sent to the applicant.
14. After getting the notification from concerned authorities, the applicant can visit the office to collect their license.
15. The Processing time for this procedure is 2 days.

• A valid certificate of vaccination issued by a veterinary surgeon to the effect that the dog in respect of which the licence is applied has been inoculated against rabies
• Appropriate licence fee receipt.
• Copy of national ID/ Passport.

Eligibility

• All dog Owners are eligible.
• Any person whose premises a dog is found or whose premises a dog is known to frequent, unless that person can that the dog is not his, and was in his premises without consent.
• The dog in respect should have been inoculated against rabies.

Fees

• Issuing of dog licence EGP. 2,000
• Issuing of identification, tag licence EGP. 1,000
• Issuing of a duplicate dog licence EGP. 1,000
• Issuing of a duplicate identification tag licence EGP. 500
• No licence fee shall be paying respect of an application for a licence for any dog kept by a disabled person or used for the purpose of guiding a disabled person.

Validity

• The Validity Period is one year.

Instructions

• Must have dog vaccinated and receive a vaccination certificate.
• Must make Application for a dog licence with the County’s Veterinary Department
• Applicant must await premise inspection.
• Applicant pay application fees and get issued with dog license.

• Applicant's complete name
• Name of the dog owner
• The postal and physical address of applicant
• Telephone number
• Breed of dog.
• Colour of dog, age and sex of dog.
• Vaccination date of dogs aged six years and above.

Need for the Document

• No person shall own or keep any dog within Egypt City County (or any Major Counties) unless that person is in possession of a valid licence for the dog.
