Apply In-Person:

  1. To Get License or Permit for Wood and Articles, the applicant has to approach the Ministry of Trade and Industry contact link
  2. Meet the respective authority at the planning and development section. The applicant shall get advice from the authority to be followed to apply for this procedure.
  3. Please collect the required application form.
  4. Complete the application form. Attach the entire required document as per our “Required Documents” section along with the signed blueprint and submit it at the counter designated in triplicate.
  5. A fee for this procedure has to be paid as per the authority's request.
  6. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
  7. The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
  8. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
  9. An acknowledgment receipt will be provided. Please save it for future reference.
  10. Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
  11. If required, the department will conduct the physical inspection of the premises/area to make sure, that the said premises/area doesn’t fall under the restricted zone for issuance of the license.
  12. The department will also conduct an investigation to check whether the applicant was convicted or penalized in any Criminal/Forest offense case.
  13. Based on the above verification, inspection, and investigation, a report will be submitted to the respective sanctioning authority.
  14. Also, the application will be forwarded to the respective state-level committee.
  15. Once the state-level committee assesses the case. Once the assessment is completed, the committee will provide their remarks (approval) to the sanctioning authority.
  16. Based on the outcome of the above report, recommendation, and other internal processing, the designated authority will grant the license with his/her seal and signature.
  17. The license will be hand delivered or sent through post to the address mentioned while applying or issued as per applicable norms.
  18. This entire process can be completed in 60 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

  • A registered private limited company or a partnership company or a proprietorship company is eligible to apply for this procedure.
  • The applicant must be 18 years and above are eligible to apply.
  • The applicant should not be convicted or penalized in any Criminal/Forest offense case.

  • The failure to comply with the prerequisites of the trade license can also result in the closure of a business.
  • There will be sudden checks by the civic agencies, forest department authorities, and fire and safety authorities.
  • Do not submit fake documents as proof to get the license.
  • Incomplete applications will be rejected.
  • Avoid spelling mistakes while filling out the application form.
  • Applicant will be penalized if any information provided by the applicant while applying for this license is found false or incorrect.

Need for the DocumentEdit

  • Wood-based industries means sawmills, veneer industries, plywood industries, particle board units, Medium Density Fiber Units, block board units, paper, pulp and rayon units, biomass power units including any other unit involved in sawing, cutting, peeling, chipping, re- sawing or converting timber with the aid of electrical or mechanical power and includes the premises as approved in the license, but does not include a contrivance operated solely by manual power.
  • Individuals who have desired to establish such an industry must apply for a license to proceed in that field legally.
