Apply In-Person:

  1. To Get License or Permit for Ores, Metals, the applicant has to approach the General Authority for investment and Free zones Contact link.
  2. The applicant should obtain the application form.
  3. Read carefully through the application form as there contain different section.
  4. The applicant has to make sure that he or she has all the required documents that are required for this process to be successful and they can be found under the "Required Documents" section of this page.
  5. Once the application form and any relevant supporting information/documents have been completed, signed, stamped, and certified where required
  6. Submit the completed form in two copies along with the supporting documents to the respective office.
  7. The official will check the application for accuracy and to ascertain if the application is correct.
  8. The official will confirm that the applicant has paid the correct fee which can be found under the "Fees" section of this page and then update the file and schedule a date for the site inspection.
  9. On the scheduled date, the Ministry of Manpower and Immigration will send its inspectors to conduct due diligence on the proposed site and write a report which he/she will be required to declare and sign
  10. Then the complete application and the inspection report will be forwarded to the commissioner and government-related agencies requesting inspection of the proposed quarry site and their recommendations and approval of the proposed quarry site.
  11. A final report is collated by the Ministry of Manpower and Immigration which includes the recommendations of the agencies and the report is then submitted to the Quarry Advisory Committee for deliberation.
  12. If he/she is granted a salt mining license, the license is approved for a specific period and over a clearly defined geographical area. In cases where the application is rejected, an appeal can be made to the authority.
  13. The entire process will take about 90 days to complete.

  • Copy of Survey of Ghana Top sheet indicating boundary of forest land proposed to be diverted
  • Scanned copy of the Geo-referenced map of the forest land proposed to be diverted prepared by using DGPS or Total Station
  • Copy of note containing justification for locating the Project in forest land
  • Copy of Cost-Benefit analysis
  • Copy of ownership proof
  • Copy of Mou/agreement executed between the Present owner and the User Agency
  • Copy of non-encumbrances certificate for the forest land
  • Copy of grant of the mining/quarry lease
  • Copy of the lease deed
  • Copy of approved mining/quarry plan
  • Copy of map of the outer boundary of the mining lease area
  • Copy of details of the plan for the transportation of the minerals

  • Applicant must Be Egyptian (except with previous approval of the Egypt government).

  • The government imposed 30 shillings per month license fee in order for the miners to work their claim.

InstructionsEdit

  • When a Base Metals (Zinc) License holder has identified a mineral deposit that he/she is interested in, he/she appoints an agent or an Approved Prospector to peg on his behalf.
  • The agent is required to physically peg the area by marking the deposit with a Discovery Peg.

Need for the DocumentEdit

  • A Base Metals license gives the license holder the sole right to mine for specified minerals. The applicant needs to show identification of a mineral resource before applying for a Base Metals (Litter and Scrap, Molybdenum, Bars and Rods) license.
