Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To Get License or Permit for Meat Business, the applicant has to approach the Egypt Ministry of Health Contact link
2. Information related to the respective office and License authority can be obtained from the “Office locations and contacts” section of this page.
3. Application forms should be obtained from the respective office.
4. Applicant should read carefully in the application form after all details must be filled in the application form.
5. Also, make sure that the applicant has all the documents listed in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
6. Please refer to the fee's details in the “Fees” section of this page.
7. The applicant must provide all the required documents to the authorities for validation and also pay the requisite application fees.
8. Submit the completed application form and pay the required application fee and submit the receipt as proof of payment.
9. If the application once approved and it will be forwarded to the authority.
10. The Directorate of Fisheries Resource will review and sign it after the applicant has produced a certificate from a medical officer of health stating that the meat to be exported/imported in respect of which the license is required to comply with the international Healthy standards.
11. The Directorate will also assign a specialist officer to test the meat to be exported/ imported in the Laboratory for conducting the testing of meat products to support certification for quality and safety of meat products for the export and local market established, operationalized, and maintained.
12. A meat export or import permit specified shall be issued on payment of fees set out in Rules and regulation laws governing the importation and exportation of food items.
13. Once the payments are cleared the Chief fisheries officer shall issue out a meat import/export permit.
14. The Chief Fisheries Officer may refuse to issue a permit for import, or export. Any person aggrieved by the refusal of Chief Fisheries Officer may appeal to the Minister within 30 days from the date of refusal by way of a petition stating the facts and grounds for appeal.

Eligibility

• All private and public meat hatchery owners are eligible for this permit.

Fees

• Application fee of EGP 600.00 (non-refundable)
• License fees $1,000 or its equivalent in EGP. (Paid annually)

Validity

• A license issued under this Act is valid for one year and expire on 31 December every year.

Instructions

• No person should export dairy produce without a permit issued by the Board.
• A permit is required for each consignment exported.
• An permit shall not be issued unless the applicant obtains a veterinary approval that the milk items to be exported is fit and that it meets the health requirements of the importing country.

Need for the Document

• A person is required to keep his/her meat license with him/her at all times while meat or transporting meat and must exhibit their license for inspection by any warden, department employee, guide or landowner upon request.
