Apply In-Person

  1. To register a vehicle in Daman and Diu the applicant has to approach the RTO office to which his area belongs to.
  2. Make sure you have completed application form ‘Form-20’. Application form can be obtained from the following link : Form-20
  3. Also make sure you have all the necessary documents to process the application
  4. Application forms can also be obtained from the appropriate RTO offices that should be completed and presented with appropriate fees.
  5. Present the completed application forms along with documents in one of the counter and pay the appropriate fee where the officials would start processing your application.
  6. Pencil tracing of engine chassis number is the activity to record the chassis number against the registration number in the RTO register
  7. Authorities will inspect the vehicle and announce the registration number
  8. After necessary verification, the applicant is given a token of receipt for the period till he receives the RC
  9. The Vehicle Registration Certificate is issued to the applicant within one month

Apply through Centres:

  1. To apply for Permanent Vehicle (Car, Bike, Motorcycle) Registration in Daman & Diu, the applicant shall visit the nearest CSC/Tehsil Centre. Find contacts to CSC centres in the link provided:Link
  2. Procure the mandatory application form from the concerned centre and fill it up with the necessary details required for the license.
  3. Make sure to attach all the "Required Documents" along with the application form before submission.
  4. Provide authorized signatory and photograph, wherever applicable.
  5. Make the requisite payment required for the process (if applicable).
  6. Now, submit the application to the office of the concerned centre and obtain the acknowledgement slip.
  7. After successful verification, the registration will be done by the concerned authority.
  8. Obtain the certificate from the concerned authority.

  3. Road worthiness certificate in Form 22 from the manufacturers.

  10. Original Sales Certificate from the concerned Authorities in Form 21 in the case of Ex_Army Vehicle.
  11. Customs Clearance Certificate in the case of Imported Vehicles.
  12. Bonafide agriculture certificate issued by the Thaasildhaar in case of registration of Tractor-Trailer unit used for agriculture. In case of trailer or a semi-trailer, design approval proceedings issued by Commissioner for Transport to be produced.

  • Dealer is eligible to apply on behalf of the owner of the vehicle.
  • In case of registration of temporary registered vehicle - the owner may apply for registration.

ValidityEdit

  • In case of non-transport vehicles like two wheelers and cars, the registration certificate is valid for 15 years from the date of first registration and it is renewed after every five subsequent years.
  • In case of transport vehicles like goods and passenger carriers the registration certificate is valid till certificate of fitness is valid.

Need for the DocumentEdit

  • All the vehicles need to be registered as per the Motor Vehicle Act, 1988. The vehicles are provided with unique registration number. Once the vehicle is registered, a certificate is issued to the owner. The registration certificate is used as a proof for authorized owner of the vehicle.
  • Permanent registration is required for the Temporary registered Vehicle
  • Vehicle registration's purpose is to establish clear ownership and to tax motorist or vehicle owners. It is a requirement by the state.
  • After one registers his / her vehicle – He / She will receive a unique number to use it in number board
  • When a bike owned by an individual sold to another person – the name transfer has to be made with the authorities concerned
