To be issued a conviction status certificate a person must take the following steps:

  • Conviction status certificate is issued by the District Court of the place where the individual was born.
  • If appeals to District Court, other than the District Court in his birthplace, the person should submit a prepaid telegram addressed to himself. An application for certification of conviction may be filed by the District Court of residence of the applicant.

According to Ordinance ? 8 of 26 February 2008 on the functions and organization of the activities of the courts ,the citizens of the Republic of Bulgaria, for which have not been issued a criminal record and / or imposed administrative penalties, have the right to request and receive electronic conviction status certificate. . E-conviction status certificate is valid for six months and have the same power as conviction status certificate issued in writing, but only in electronic form and content available on the Ministry of Justice website, through the access code that is provided to the person to whom it relates. To identify the person, e-conviction status certificate contains the unique citizens number (???) and the three names in Bulgarian and English language- same as on the identity cards. Required DocumentsEdit

The following documents must be attached to the application:

  • Identity card
  • Birth certificate
  • Inheritance certificate if it is applied for a deceased relative.
  • Document for paid government fee from a bank (some courts have bank branches in the building)

Required InformationEdit

The application for conviction status certificate must contain the following information:

  • Full name and address of the applicant
  • Citizenship
  • Personal identification number
  • Full names of the mother and father of the applicant
  • Date of birth
  • Place of birth
  • Reason for applying (eg job applications).

Conviction status certificate is an official document issued by a Bulgarian District court which contains information about the criminal record of an individual.

Other uses of the Document/CertificateEdit
