ProcedureEdit

  1. Find your nearest driver licensing office.
  2. Bring required ID, the appropriate fee for the type of license you need, and other documents to show your driving experience, especially if your license expired more than three years ago.
  3. Do you have any outstanding tickets, fines or debts? These could be payments owed to ICBC, court fines or debts to the province.If yes, find out how to pay tickets, fines and debts to ICBC and pay them. If no, go to step 4.Note: You will be asked if you have any medical conditions that may affect your driving.
  4. Pay the replacement fee.
  5. Have your photo taken.
  6. Get your new license.

  • First 5-year license or renewal (If your current license expires within six months.) - $75.00
  • 5-year renewal for seniors (65+)- $17.00

  • If your license was lost, stolen, or damaged, follow the steps discussed below in the Procedure Section and get your new license.
  • If your lost, stolen, or damaged license was due to be renewed within six months,it can be renewed instead of replacing it. You will not lose any time on your license. You will also save paying a replacement fee.
  • If your drivers license was lost or stolen outside B.C. and you need your license to drive where you are, call a ICBC licensing staff and they will be happy to guide you on the next steps to take.
