Procedure

Apply In Person

1. To Apply to Voluntarily Surrender Firearms, Ammunition and Accessories, the applicant has to approach the Federal Police Brazil – link
2. The applicant has to visit the office with the request letter.
3. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
4. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
5. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
6. The applicant has to attach photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting it.
7. Make an appointment with the Federal Police or military police to surrender the applicant’s firearms. They will provide him/her with a date and time for him/her to bring in his/her firearms and complete the process.
8. Ensure that the applicant transports the firearms safely and legally to the designated location. It is advisable to transport them unloaded and stored in a locked container, separate from any ammunition.
9. On the day of appointment submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
10. The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
11. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
12. An acknowledgment receipt will be provided. Please save it for future reference.
13. For further process, the applicant has to follow the instruction given by the officer.
14. This entire process can be completed within 15 - 20 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.
