How to Apply :
- If you are a developer contacts the Department of National Museum and Monuments to establish whether they need to carry out an Archaeological Impact Assessment, by telephone, post or fax.
- Your claim will be verified and if the assessment is required you will be notified, then you (developer) should consultant archaeologist accredited and approved by the Department of National Museum and Monuments. (check list below under office and location)
- The archaeologist will then carry out an assessment as per the guidelines for planners and the assessment reports are submitted to the department for reviewing.
- If the department is satisfied with the information obtained from the assessment report you will be informed on the approval decision within 7 days and you will be issued with an archaeological impact assessment permit.
- The development may then take place and mitigation measures should be implemented during the process.
Note :
If by any Chance of discoveries is made during construction it should be immediately reported to the department and the archaeological consultant. The work should be halted until the developer is advised on the way forward.
