How to apply:
- You should Visit the local office (Kgotla) near you to request a declaration letter confirming the veteran's participation in the war, upon which the official will verify your claim and then issue you a declaration letter.
- You should then head to the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development,Department of Social Services and obtain the applicant form (Registration of Beneficiary Form)
- Please note: that the applicant form (Registration of Beneficiary Form) must be written and signed in the presence of the District Commissioner.
- Submit the complete form, declaration letter and supporting documents to the District Commissioner's office, and requesting enrolment into the veterans pension programme.
- You will always be required to give out additional information at office verbally i.e. the applicable veteran number, indicating preference of payment via voucher book obtained from postal office, or monthly crediting of a bank account, and bank account details as applicable.
- Your application will then be verified and processed and if the commissioner is satisfied with the information obtained from the application and the documents are genuine the application will be approved, and you will be notified in a month, in person at the District Commissioner office.

EligibilityEdit
Anyone meeting one of the below criteria is able to access the veterans pension.
- Botswana citizen with a valid national identification card (Omang) who participated in World War I or World War II.
- Spouse(s) of a deceased veteran who participated in the wars and has not married another man who ever participated in the World Wars following the death of the veteran husband or wife.
- A deceased veteran's child under 21 years of age whose mother is also deceased.

InstructionsEdit
- Where the preference is not bank transfers, the veteran or applicant will be issued with a 12 month voucher book at the post office in his or her area.
- Where the preference is bank transfers, the given bank account would be credited monthly and the applicant must complete and submit a life declaration form every 6 months.

Need for the DocumentEdit
- Ex-service men and women who served in World Wars I and II or their beneficiary, are entitled to a special pension compensation and they can access this benefits by registration to the District Commissioner offices.
