Applying process in Botswana.

a. Apply In-Person
  1. Police Clearance Certificate can be applied at “Criminal Records Bureau, Botswana Police Service”.
  2. Address is provided below.
  3. Contacts link: Botswana police
  4. Go to the respective office. Don’t forget to take the required copy of documents along with originals to the office.
  5. Please follow as per authorities guidelines and submit the completed application along with documents. Applicant should pay for any charges if required as advised.
  6. This application will be processed by respective department.
  7. The certificate can be collected from the office where applicant applied in person or will be delivered through mail upon notification or issued as per norms.

Applying process - overseas.

a. Apply through mail(post)
  1. Applicant has to apply with the “Criminal Records Bureau” to obtain the PCC through mail(post).
  2. Applicant has to write an application. Once the application is filled in, please attach the completed application, required document and fee paid details and send it to the adress provided below.
  3. This application received will be processed by respective department.
  4. The certificate will be delivered to the applicant as per norms.

Note: Applicant need to arrange for their fingerprints taken by a local police force and sent with a covering letter explaining the reason for applying for the Police Clearance Certificate to the Botswana Police Service in Gabarone.

Foreign national

  • A copy of your passport while living in Botswana.
  • A copy of your permit of stay in Botswana, passport number and place of issue as well.
  • Proofs of legal stay (copy of passport held during the said period with respective stamp and seal).

  • Applicant with valid passport and a valid address proof.
  • Age: 16 years and above. In case of minors, the application must be submitted by the parent exercising parental authority, if the minor has not turned 16 years.
  • The current address of the applicant must be same as in the passport and other supporting documents.
  • Applicants who are in need of residential status, employment or long term visa or for immigration to a foreign nation.

Procedure for Getting PCC from Botswana

FOR RESIDENT CITIZENS'

Step-1: Get a set of fingerprints from the nearest Police Station.

Step-2: Attach ID (Omang) or passport for persons under 16 years of age.

(OMANG is a document used to show that one is a citizen of the Republic of Botswana. It is must by law that every Motswana above 16 should have one.)

Step-3: A letter by the applicant mentioning the reasons for PCC.

FOR NON RESIDENT

Step-1: Get a set of fingerprints done from the nearest police station.

Step-2: A copy of first five pages of a passport.

Step-3: Copies of residence permits, wherever applicable.

Step-4: A letter by the applicant mentioning the reasons for PCC.
