Apply In-Person

  1. To apply for an Export Rough Diamond Permit or License, applicants are advised to make an appointment booking with Diamond Office (DO) for inspection of rough diamonds at least a day in advance. {Contact details are listed below}.
  2. On the scheduled date, the client should bring the diamonds/shipment/goods to Diamond Office for inspection with invoices.
  3. After the inspection of shipment, the client should complete the Export Permit of Rough Diamonds form (Form 4), Forms are available for free at the Enquiries Desk at any of the offices of the Diamond Office, or directly download them using this link;Link {Export of rough diamonds Application form}
  4. Submit the duly completed application form along with the relevant attachments (mentioned below under the ‘Required Documents’ section) to be verified by the attending officer at the Diamond Office.
  5. The officer will then verify, if all the necessary information and documents have been provided and that the applications comply with the selection criteria, if everything is in order;
  6. The Export Rough Diamond License or permit will be approved, drawn up, singed, and stamped by the authorized official and issued to the applicant immediately, upon payment of the prescribed fee.

  • One must also apply for a Kimberley Process Certificate in order for the process of exporting diamonds to be complete. {Please refer to wikiprocedure website for full procedure details on how to Apply for a Kimberley Certificate}

Need for the DocumentEdit

  • The permit allows diamond cutting license holders to export rough diamonds to countries that are members of the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme (KPSC).
  • The permit is required every time rough diamonds are exported.
