Procedure

Apply In-Person

1. You should contact the immigration offices or Botswana embassy near you, for more information on how to file the application with them.
2. Accurately fill in the application form (Form 1 Application for Visa) which can be obtained from the above offices.
3. submit the completed form along with the required supporting documentation (as listed below) for verification and processing.
4. Check the outcome of your application from the office where the application was submitted after seven working days.
5. If approved you will be issued with the visa upon payment of the required fees.

Required Documents

• Certified copy of page 1 and 2 of passport showing validity period not less than six months
• Two recent coloured passport size photos
• Covering letter
• Flight itinerary and accommodation bookings or residential address in Botswana
• A re-entry permit to the country where the applicant is ordinarily resident if such a permit is required by that country
• Confirmed onward booking or a proof to continue your journey (ie. Visa to enter destination country) from Botswana within 3 days of arrival. This excludes transporters who may be given up to 14 days
• Transporters and tour operators/guide to produce proof of cross-border tour operating licence

Eligibility

All foreigners who are not allowed to enter Botswana without a visa, but wants to leave the airport for a maximum of seven days while in transit.

Fees

The cost associated with this service is BWP500.00 for up to three months, BWP1000.00 for validity period beyond three months, up to three years.

Validity

The visa is valid for 3 months and up to 3 years

Processing Time

It takes seven to fourteen days after the date of filling application with the immigration office or the Botswana consulate or embassy.

• The transit visa is required for those who are not allowed to enter Botswana without a visa, but wants to leave the airport for a maximum of seven days while in transit.
• A transit visa is not required if you fly out on the same aircraft and from the same airport at which you arrived and provided you do not leave the airport.
