Apply In Person
- Where a voter's registration card has been lost, destroyed, or defaced, or the particulars thereon have become illegible, the voter shall apply for a duplicate with the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) of Botswana. IEC Contact and Map Location Details
- A registered voter should visit the Independent Electoral Commission Office of the Principal Registration Officer in their constituency and explain to the officer what occurred.
- Voter’s will be required to produce their identity card to be validated by the IEC officer and he/she will use the voter Omang card to cross-check the information against the IEC database and verify if the applicant is registered as a voter.
- Any registration officer, on being satisfied as to such loss or destruction, may issue a duplicate voter's registration card to such person, Provided that no duplicate voter's registration card shall be issued on any day fixed for polling at the constituency, polling district, or polling station at which the voter is registered to vote.
- The is no fee associated with the service and the time around for processing the application is within a day.
- If the voter’s card is damaged or defaced, or the particulars thereon have become illegible the voter will be required to surrender the damaged voter’s card before he is issued a duplicate voter’s card.
- Where a voter’s card which has been lost is subsequently found, or the duplicate /replaced thereof, shall forthwith be returned to the IEC office for cancellation and destruction.
