Procedure

How to Apply

1. Applicants should visit the District Veterinary Service {DVS} Office, where the abattoir Premises is located for the application process {see office location & contact section below for address details below}.
2. Collect the Application for Alterations or Additions to Poultry Abattoir Premises Form or click this link to download Link

   • Note; where any proposed changes in relation to the Abattoir premise is to be made it should be stated on a separate sheet.

3. Submit the completed form, along with relevant supporting documents {as listed below} in person/ by post to the Veterinary Services office for processing and assessment.
4. Upon receipt of the application file, DVS official at the sub district/district will conduct plot suitability assessment inspection {if applicable} and write a report.
5. The report finding along with the application file will be forwarded to the Deputy Director office for further assessment and approval.
6. Once a decision is made by the Director, the applicant will be updated by phone, email or Mail and if approved the new modified license will be made available for withdrawal by the applicant at the department front desk against the acknowledgment slip and identification document.

• A valid company’s registration certificate for companies.
• Proof of ownership of site and land use.
• Site/location plan.
• Meat premises plan.

• Citizens and companies that hold a valid poultry meat abattoir premises license

Fees

• No fee associated with the services

Validity

• The meat premise license is valid for 12 calendar months.

• This service allows citizens and businesses to apply to make alterations to licensed meat premises (Poultry Meat Abattoir) in line with Livestock and Meat Industries Act of 2007 and Regulations for Red and Poultry Meat.
