Apply In Person

  1. To get Mobile Network Connection, the applicant should go to the nearest service provider customer service center/outlet of their choice.
  2. Ask for the new connection application form, obtainable at any of the service provider outlet customer service centers. Copies of these forms are not available online.
  3. Submit the duly complete application form in all respect (in case of any doubt when completing the form please ask for assistance from the attending staff/agent), attach the required documents as mentioned under the “Required Documents” section of this page. Any omission of these documents or required information will render the registration process incomplete.
  4. The customer care staff or outlet agent, will thoroughly verify the application, generates an acknowledgment, and request you to purchase the SIM card, which will then be handed over to you i.e. (acknowledgment receipt and the SIM card),. Keep the acknowledgment receipt handy as it is a contract between you and the mobile network communication company.
  5. The SIM card will be activated immediately or within 24 hours after verification, insert the SIM card into your mobile device to access all the services rendered by the communication company.

EligibilityEdit

  • Individuals should have valid address proof and identity proof documents and be ages 18 years and above.
  • Companies/businesses should be registered, have valid address proof, and a valid registration certificate



FeesEdit

  • Every Service Provider has a separate tariff based on the type of connection and Value-Added Services (such as SMS, MMS, international calling, roaming, and Internet).



ValidityEdit

  • If you do not receive or dial a call for two continuous months, your SIM will be deactivated. Otherwise, you can maintain the mobile connection throughout your life until you disconnect.

  • All mobile users in Botswana are required to be connected to a specific Mobile Network connection, which is licensed and regulated by the Botswana Communication Regulatory Body.
  • Various mobile service providers provide a mobile connection in Botswana, (Botswana Telecommunications Corporation (BTC), Mascom Wireless (MTN), Orange Botswana (Vista Cellular), beMobile, Botsnet, MTN Business, etc.)
  • Each service provider has its tariff for prepaid and postpaid connections to attract the customers
  • There are two types of Mobile Connection services offered by the different mobile communication companies’ i.e.
i. Prepaid services:
  • You can recharge your mobile connection with prepaid minutes by using a prepaid voucher or online.
ii. Postpaid services:
  • You can use your cell phone for a month and a bill is generated.
  • Once you receive a monthly bill, you can pay the amount either online or reach the service provider outlet in person.
