- The application for De-registration of Aircraft from Aircraft Registry shall be made to the Civil Aviation Authority of Botswana (CAAB) office. CAAB Contact Details
- Applicants are required to collect and complete the Application De-registration Aircraft(CAAB Form AIR 107), obtainable at the CAAB office or download it via the CAAB website, CAAB Airworthiness Application Forms or download it directly using this link Application for Deregistration(CAAB Form AIR 107)
- The duly completed Application forms, attached to the supporting documents as mentioned under the “Required Documents” section of this page are to be submitted to the CAAB head office, Aircraft Registration, and licensing unit for consideration. Any omission of the required information or documents will render the application process incomplete.
- Upon receipt of the application, theAircraft Registration and Licensing officers will check for discrepancies or ineligibility in the application documents. If a discrepancy that cannot be immediately corrected exists in any of the documents, the application and all the submitted documents will be returned to the applicant and should not be re-submitted until the discrepancy has been corrected.
- If the CAAB officer is satisfied that all the requirements have been met for the application for the license, the application is registered for processing and consideration.
- Applicants will be required to pay a prescribed Application fee as mentioned on the CAAB fee schedule, (Refer to the “Fees” section of this page),which is payable either in cash at the CAAB cashier counter/accounts office or by Direct deposit / Electronic Funds Transfer or by cheque in favour of the CAAB.
- The applicant is issued with a payment slip and an acknowledgment slip as proof of submission of the application and for inquiry referencing if the need arises.
- Upon submission of the request, the authority will go through a rigorous evaluation exercise to determine grounds of de-registration.
- The Authority will also verify the signature of the owner or the legal representative. It may be necessary to submit legal documents of consent and authorization of de-registration.
- If everything is in order the aircraft will be de-registered and removed from the Authority’s register and the applicant is notified of the approval by phone or mail.
- The applicant will receive a certificate of de-registration of the Aircraft from the CAAB office, upon presenting the acknowledgment letter, identity document, and proof of payment of the prescribed de-registration certificate fee (Refer to the “Fees” section of this page for the CAAB Fees Schedule),to be validated by the CAAB officer.
PLEASE NOTE:
- The aircraft will be deleted from Botswana Civil Aircraft Register as soon as possible; therefore, applicants are advised not to submit their application, until they are ready for the deregistration to take place, and are sure that the aircraft is not and will no longer be operating under Botswana registration

- Previous Certificate of Registration (signed by new and previous owner).
- Airworthiness certificate.
- Reduced Vertical Separation Minimum(RVSM)Certificate (where applicable).
- Customs clearance from Botswana Unified Revenue Services (BURS)
- Proof of payment of the prescribed fee.
- Letter of authority.

EligibilityEdit
The Authority may de-register or cancel the registration of an aircraft under the following circumstances—
- Upon application by the registered owner for purposes of registering the aircraft in another state or for any other purpose; or
- Upon the destruction of the aircraft or its permanent withdrawal from use.

- This is the process for cancellation of aircraft registration and removal/deletion of the aircraft from Botswana Civil Aircraft.

- The Authority shall, before de-registering an aircraft in accordance with this regulation, require the registered owner to—
- Return to the Authority the certificate of aircraft registration;
- Settles any liens or encumbrances attached to the aircraft;
- Remove all nationality and registration marks assigned to the aircraft; and
- Comply with any such other conditions as the Authority may specify.
- Once the aircraft is removed from the Botswana Register it can no longer fly displaying its Botswana nationality and registration marks.
- Also, the Botswana assigned Transponder Mode Address must be removed from the aircraft at the time of de-registration.
- Failure to do so could result in an unsafe condition occurring on future flights the aircraft might make under its new registration.
Other uses of the Document/CertificateEdit
