Procedure

Apply In-Person

1. To register to participate in the President Day Competitions, interested applicants should visit the nearest Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development (MYSCD) District offices, upon Call for applications submission opening from the 1st February to the last day of the same month annually; by the ministry through the public gazette or other varies advertising media.
2. Visit the MYSC office housed at the District Councils and Sub District Council office in your area; with supporting documents and express your interest to participate in the President Day Competition at the department concerned office. 3. Applicants should collect and completed the registration form appropriate for the competition code (Visual Arts or Performing Arts) their wish to complete, forms are available for free at the service desk at any of the MYSC district offices.
4. The completed Registration forms, attached to the supporting documentation;(as listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page), should be submitted to the nearest MYSCD District Office in the region you wish to complete and not at Head Office before the submission deadline.
5. The receiving officer will then verify that all the necessary documentation and information have been provided and that the applications comply with the selection criteria before registering the application file.
6. The applicant will then be issued an acknowledgment letter with a reference number by the MYSC agent.
7. All application files will be forwarded to the Constituency Committee concerned for assessment and processing which is within 4 months.
8. Approved applicants will be registered as participates of the competition and notified of the outcome by phone or in-person by the MYSC district office, where the application was filed and given further instructions.
   
   • Please Note: NO registration will be accepted after the closing date or during the competitions.

Applicants should meet the following requirements to be eligible;

• Botswana citizens aged 18 and above
• Individual artists
• Registered and unregistered groups

No fee associate with the service

Validity

The competition shall commence at the regional level (April to June) and national (July). Position 1, 2, and 3 from the region will qualify to the national level which will be held in Gaborone from mid -July to the end of August, and Awards Ceremony held thereafter

Need for the Document

The President’s Day Competitions is an annual program administered by the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development (MYSC) together with different Arts Associations. The Competitions are in support of the Visual Arts (fashion, pottery, painting, graphic design, photography, and sculpting) and Performing Arts (theatre, poetry, comedy, different traditional dances, and contemporary music).
