- The application for the Under Graduate (UG) Degree Program (University of Botswana) shall be made to the University of Botswana (UB). UB website
- Upon notification by the University of Botswana (UB) for the opening of the intakes/admission for all Under Graduate (UG) Degree Program through various media platforms, all prospective students are required to respond to the advert and submit their application before the deadline as mentioned on the notification Ad.
- All Prospective students are required to collect and complete the Undergraduate Application Form, obtainable at any of the following centers, UB Main Campus in Gaborone, Centre for Continuing Education (CCE) in Francistown, Okavango Research Institute (ORI) in Maun, or download it via the University of Botswana (UB) website UB Application Form for undergraduate Admission or directly download it using this link, Undergraduate Application Form
- Before you start the registration process, ensure that you have a list of courses that you are supposed to register for, otherwise, contact your Faculty for guidance in that regard.
- Applicants must ensure that they provide the correct email address and mobile number as these will be used to communicate any matter regarding their applications
- Submit the duly completed form in all respect, attached with the relevant supporting documentation as mentioned under the “Required Documents “section of this page, to any of the following centers, UB Main Campus in Gaborone, Centre for Continuing Education (CCE) in Francistown, Okavango Research Institute (ORI) in Maun, the administrative office/desk, during working hours i.e. from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, weekdays and before the submission deadline. Any omission of the required documents and information will render the registration processing incomplete.
- Applicants will be required to pay an Application Fee, which is non-refundable, either online through the link UB online payment or into the University of Botswana (UB) bank accounts details listed under the “Fees” section of this page, or at the UB cashier/accountant office, personal cheques are not acceptable, and upon deposit/payment of the application fee, the applicant should write their full names and IDs as a reference on the deposit slip. A copy of the payment receipt should be kept safely by the applicant.
- Applicants will be issued with a BPC acknowledge receipt, this receipt will serve as proof of submission of the application and for inquiry referencing if the need arises.
- The Undergraduate Admissions office will review and process applications immediately after the closing date and applicants who are required to attend selection interviews or tests will be notified accordingly.
- Applicants who apply for programs in which an interview or test is part of the selection process are advised to enquire about the schedules if they do not receive notification of the dates of selection interviews or tests, they are required to attend. Contact the Admissions Office for details about the interview or test.
- If for whatever reason an applicant fails to attend a scheduled oral or written interview, he/she will automatically be dropped from the selection list for that particular program.
- Notice of the decision (Approval, Deferral, or Rejection) for the admission will be communicated to the applicant via email/phone. If approved an admission letter will be issued to the applicant in person or sent to them via email.
- Applicants should visit the University of Botswana view the admission list via the UB website or the Department of Academic Services Facebook page to check their names in the admission list. Those whose names appear on the list but have not yet received their admission offers/letters should check their emails before contacting the Undergraduate Admissions Office at Main Campus by calling the following telephone numbers: 3552912/2003/4625/2183/2047 or sending an email [email protected].
- All New Sponsored Students (DTEF and other Sponsors) should scan their sponsorship letters and send them by email to: [email protected]. Please do ensure that you write your Student Identity Number (Ref in your Admission letter) on the sponsorship letter.
- For all Self Sponsored Students (Returning and New) are expected to pay a minimum of 25% of all the Semester fees (Tuition, International Administration Fee, Accommodation, Excursion, and Student Life). The remaining 75% balance be paid in monthly equal installments, payable all before the end of each semester. Once the payment has been done, complete the Payment Plan form. Send scanned Payment Plan form and Proof of Payment to [email protected], the UB will then facilitate your registration and will respond to the email to indicate that you may register.
- The University of Botswana has admission vacancies in some programs of study of which unsuccessful applicants may apply for ONE of them provided they meet the program requirements including the Competitive Admission Cut-Off Points shown on the published admission list. The list of these programs is available online through the STUDY Link
Apply Online
- All prospective applicants should make their applications online through the University of Botswana (UB) website University of Botswana's Online Admission Application.
- The UB online application will be displayed, if you already have an account log in with your Application Id and password.
- If you do not have an account, complete the “Don’t have an applicant ID yet” section, by entering the security code then click on the “Create Application ID” tab, Create Application page will be displayed, fill all fields accurately. Once complete, click the “Continue” button.
- If successful, a mail will be sent to your email address with your Application ID, (application ID and Temporary Password), click on the verification link, on the sent mail,
- To confirm your details, please click on the '” Confirm Temporary Password” tab (Step 3) on the main log-in page.
- You will be redirected to the “Confirm Password” page, enter your (email address, application ID, and Password which was sent to you via email then click on the “Ok” tab to access the services.
- The “Change your Password” page will be displayed, enter your new password, confirm it, and then click on the “Ok “tab.
- An application summary page will be displayed click on the “Edit” button.
- An “Online Application page” will be displayed, read through the instruction, then click on the “Next “tab, located on the right side of your screen, to proceed with the different stages of the application, enter all required fields in each section of the application forms then click on the “Next” tab to proceed to the next page of the application form.
- Upon completing the application form, upload all the supporting documents as listed on the site, then click on the “Next” tab.
- Proof of Payment for the non-refundable application fee should be upload together with the application. Payment may be made in cash payment at the UB (Block 108) or at a bank, (UB account details and the application fee are listed below under the “Fee” section of this page). Personal cheques are not acceptable. The applicant should write their full names and IDs as a reference on the deposit/payment slip. A copy of the payment receipt should be kept safely by the applicant.

- If all the information and document are true and accurate, click on the declaration tab, and then click on the “Submit” tab, located on the right side of your screen.
- Once you have submitted your application, an acknowledgment notification will be sent to you by email.
- Once you have completed your registration, you can click on LOG-OUT to exit the Student Administration System.
- Once an applicant has submitted his/her Online Application, the Undergraduate Admissions Office will review and process the applications immediately after the closing date. Applicants who are required to attend selection interviews or tests will be notified accordingly. Please check your email regularly for updates on your admission status.

Tracking your Application
- Once you have applied and have received the acknowledgment letter, you may use the login details on such a letter to track the process of your application. To do that navigate to the login screen and log in using the details given on the acknowledgment letter. Navigate by clicking Main Menu, then Student Admissions, then Self Service, and Student Centre.

EligibilityEdit
General Entry Requirements to the University shall be the
- Botswana General Certificate of Secondary Education (BGCSE) /equivalent qualification with at least six subjects NOT below a grade of E.
- For all programs, the English Language shall be one of the qualifying subjects.
- English Language must at least be a minimum of grade C for nonscience degree programs and at least a minimum of grade D for science-based programs.
- For Degree programs, at least five subjects shall be at a minimum of grade C obtained at one or two examination sittings.
- For Diploma and Certificate programs, at least a minimum of three grades of C with a minimum of grade E in English Language shall be required. Five subjects may be considered if the minimum cut-off point based on six subjects is met.
- The minimum entry BGCSE points shall be 34 points for all undergraduate Degree and 30 points for Diploma and Certificate programs.
- The stipulated length of relevant work experience where required must have been met at the time of applying.
- Any additional and/or special ENTRY requirements shall be specified under the program offerings.
- Applicants shall be considered only for the study programs they have selected.
- When applying for a program that is offered by both full-time and distance learning mode, indicate whether the application is for full-time or distance learning, otherwise if not indicated it will be assumed the application is for a full-time program.
- Meeting the minimum entry requirements does not guarantee admission. Admission will depend on the availability of space and the competitive strength of each applicant’s grades.
- Applicants may make changes to their program choices. Such changes should be communicated in writing to the undergraduate admissions office.
- Applicants with BGCSE/equivalent with a minimum of grade E in English Language may be considered for admission into Bachelors Degree programs.
