Apply In Person

  1. While the courts are available to settle disputes, smaller civil disputes are better suited to be settled by the Local Authorities. Local Authority Contact Details
  2. Both Parties or one party involved in the dispute should visit the local authority within his/her perish to verbally report the dispute to the local authority officer of Arbitration and to seek redress.
  3. The officer will then invite the involved parties and witnesses (if applicable) to attend the hearing at an agreed date and time.
  4. The parties would provide the requested information, discussing the issues with the help of the officer (arbiter).
  5. With the help of the officer (arbiter), all parties involved would arrive at an agreement to which they must all adhere.

Examples of these types of disputes include destruction of crops by livestock and failure to pay back a debt etc. Another example is disputed where both parties do not wish to go to trial to reconcile and wish to maintain peace within the community.
