Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. All manufacturers and traders who produce, distribute, sell or intend to do the same with veterinary drugs, vaccines, dips, feeds and any other chemicals that may be used on animals are required seek written permission from the Director of Veterinary Services.
2. One should Visit the nearest District Agricultural Offices, department of veterinary service for consultation, and request for assistance from the authorized officer on how to apply for the permit.
3. Accurately fill out the application form which can be obtained from the above offices or download it via this link App
4. Attach all the required documents and submit them for verification and processing.
5. On a schedule date an officer will be dispatch to the premises of the business/company to assess it and report their findings to the issuing permit authorized officer
6. If the authorized officer is satisfied that you have complied with the all conditions as set for the application of the permit, he or she will issue you with the permit after 5 days.
7. Any person who is aggrieved by the refusal of the authorized officer to issue him or her with a permit, may appeal to the Minister of Agriculture whose decision thereon shall be final.

Note:
Each branch of a company should have its own request for permission.

• Copy of company certificate
• Copy of ID (Omang) of business owner
• Details of qualified personnel in veterinary medicines and the minimum required qualification is a certificate in Animal Health and Production (please attached copies of certificates and identity cards)

Validity

Note:

• The permit is valid for between January and December of each year, that is calendar year.

(E.g. if one applies in June the permit will expire in December same year)

• All renewals permit should be made before expiry of permission

Instructions

• All applications must be submitted at district/station level since the officers there have to assess the business/company premises before permit is granted.
• Applications submitted directly at Head Quarters without district/station assessment reports will be delayed since there will be referred back to their districts before they are being responded to.
• The applicant is required to have employed a full time veterinarian or pharmacist or equivalent for those dealing with vaccines and prescriptive only.
• In dealing with over the counter drugs the minimum qualification required is a Certificate in Animal Health and Production.
• For manufacturing of animal feeds, the credentials of a nutritionist in charge of the operations, should also be submitted with the application.
