Procedure

Apply In-Person

1. You should contact the ministry of science department of research, science and technology for more information on how to file your application
2. Application form can be obtained from the above office or click the link below to download link
3. Accurately fill in the form, and email together with the supporting documentation (listed below) to [email protected] or [email protected]. Qualifications can also be sent by mail or fax to:

4. Your application will be verified and processed and if all the information’s are in order you will be registered by the department and you will be notified by written letter sent to the address provided on the application.
5. Once registered, applicants are requested to update their qualifications and C.V. on an annual basis. This can be done online or by mail at the contact addresses provided in the approval letter.

• Research professionals of all nationalities based in Botswana;
• Graduates in any field of science and technology;
• Research and science professionals based in academic institutions;
• Research and science professionals based in science and technology organizations; and
• Batswana research, science and technology professionals based in diaspora.

Fees

There is no fee for this service.

• It is important that all research personnel in Botswana register with the Department of Research Science and Technology (DRST)upon which they will be registered in the NICDB database.
• The purpose of the National Innovation Capabilities Database (NICDB) database is to record all researchers and innovators as well as work output in order to enable estimation of Botswana's capability in research and development.
• The database will allow easy access to information on human resources, expenditures, facilities and equipment to be used for decision making, to guide policy development and to provide important information for potential investors in Botswana

• All research personnel in Botswana should register with the Department of Research Science and Technology (DRST) that maintains a National Innovation Capabilities Database (NICDB)
• The purpose of the database is to record all researchers and innovators as well as their work output in to allow easy access to information on human resources, expenditures, facilities and equipment to be used for decision making, to guide policy development and to provide important information for potential investors in Botswana.

• Individuals and organizations who register with the DRST will be included in the NICDB, which is one of the criteria to receive funding for future research and professional development.
